The Jaunt - Faux Marketing Material

The Jaunt - Faux Marketing Material

As I delved into Stephen King's short story "The Jaunt," I was struck by the myriad of ways this chilling narrative could be marketed, if it were adapted into a film.

The story, set in a future where teleportation is commonplace but requires travellers to be unconscious, follows the experience of a family about to embark on their first "Jaunt." The father explains the grim history of the technology, revealing its dark side and the horrifying consequences of remaining conscious during the process.

The suspense and psychological terror are palpable, making it a perfect for a cinematic adaptation. Interestingly, before directing the blockbuster horror film "It", Andy Muschietti was on the verge of bringing "The Jaunt" to the big screen, intrigued by its unique blend of science fiction and horror. The potential for marketing this story is immense, from highlighting the technological marvel of teleportation to emphasising the eerie and unsettling risks it entails.

Faux Ad Poster for 'The Jaunt' Process:

As the Jaunt process is a sci-fi concept, I knew I wanted a space age retro poster in the campaign. My faux ad poster for "The Jaunt", evokes the aesthetic of retro space travel posters, capturing the essence of a bygone era, while promoting futuristic technology. The artwork, with its vintage colour palette and classic typography, calls to mind the golden age of space exploration.

This visual style pays homage to Stephen King's original short story, which has captivated readers since its publication in the 80's. By adopting this retro look, the poster not only honours the story's history but also stands out in today's market, offering a fresh and eye-catching approach that is sure to draw attention and intrigue.

My title teaser for "The Jaunt" sets the tone for the film. It begins with an uneasy ambient soundscape, drawing the viewer into a sense of mystery and anticipation, with the addition of the slogan.

As the title then slowly comes into view, the atmosphere feels almost serene, with subtle hints of its sci-fi essence. However, this calm is abruptly shattered by a jarring alarm as the full title is revealed, immediately warning the audience that something ominous lurks beneath the surface.

This sudden shift in sound hints at the dark and unsettling events that unfold. The teaser effectively captures the essence of "The Jaunt," promising a film that blends futuristic innovation with spine-chilling suspense.

Character Portrait Poster

Creating a 'character poster' for my campaign is a subtle strategy to captivate potential audiences. Character posters serve as a powerful visual tool, highlighting individual actors and their roles, thereby generating excitement and curiosity about the film.

Featuring David Dastmalchian in this one, known for his intense and versatile performances, adds significant appeal to the campaign. His distinct presence and acting prowess can draw in his fanbase and pique the interest of those familiar with his work, enhancing the overall allure of the project.
