Stephen King to release sequel to Cujo 42 years after its release
The author behind numerous cult classics including The Shining, Misery, IT and Pet Semetary, is set to release a sequel to Cujo in an anthology of short stories. The recently revealed, 'You Like It Darker' releases in May 2024.
Among the more than 60 books King has written, there are many that are synonymous with the author, even to those who do not see themselves among his biggest fans - the ‘Constant Readers’. One such title is Cujo, which follows a once-friendly Saint Bernard, who contracts rabies and terrorises the town of Castle Rock.
As the tenth story in a collection of 12, ‘Rattlesnakes’, has been given the following synopsis:
"A grieving widower travels to Florida for respite and instead receives an unexpected inheritance — with major strings attached".
The other 11 stories, many published for the first time, offer readers a journey into the depths of “fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen”.
‘You Like It Darker’ marks King’s first short story collection since ‘If It Bleeds’, which was released in April of 2020, a month earlier than planned. King stated he did this to give his constant readers a gift during the early days of the first Covid-19 lockdown.
50 years after the publication of his first book, Carrie, King’s ability to bring about both horror and comfort remains unbeatable. Phillipa Pride, King’s UK editor, commented that “there is a story here for every reader, which will continue to resonate long after they have finished the book”. 'You Like It Darker' is released on 21st May 2024.
